Mercent raises $6.5M

Puget Sound Business Journal (Seattle)

Mercent Corp., a maker of software that helps merchants complete online transactions, said it's closed on a $6.5 million round of financing.

The Seattle company said the Series B financing was led by TVC Capital of Del Mar, Calif. As part of the financing, TVC Capital managing partner Steve Hamerslag will join Mercent's board of directors.

Mercent officials said in a statement that they'll use the money "to accelerate Mercent's sales and marketing activities, introduce new value-added performance marketing services, and expand advertising distribution through The Mercent Shopping Network."

Other investors in the latest round of financing for Mercent included Madrona Venture Group of Seattle, which invested in the company's first round. Mercent was founded by former Amazon.com Inc. executives.
