Existing Mercent Customer?

  Just follow these simple steps to begin sending your products to Google Product Search through Mercent Retail.

First, set up your Google Base account to register your data feed with Google:

  1. Sign in to Google Base here. If you don’t already have a Google Base account, create one. If you already have an account, login with your existing credentials.
  2. Under “Settings”, enter your Display Name (business name) and business URL.
  3. Under “My Item”, select “Data feeds” and “Sign Up” for FTP uploading.
  4. Select “New Data Feed” and create a file name with a .zip extension for your feed; i.e. businessname.zip. (Mercent will compress your .xml file before sending to Google). Then:
    1. Select “products” from the Item Type drop-down
    2. At the bottom of the page, click the link to register your feed
    3. Click the link “ready to upload”

Next, send your feed to Google with Mercent Retail:

  1. Log into Mercent Retail and go to “Channel Accounts”.
  2. Click “Add a New Channel”, and select Google Product Search from the drop down menu
  3. Enter the filename you created for Google, using an .xml extension (businessname.xml), your website URL, and your Google FTP credentials, and then click “Save Account”

Your feed to Google Product Search should be active within a few minutes of completion.

Terms & Conditions: A merchant is eligible for the $50 Google AdWords promotional credit if Mercent successfully submits a properly configured Google Product Search feed for the merchant to Google Base between July 1, 2008 and July 31, 2008. Merchants that have previously used Mercent to submit a Google Product Search feed between January 1, 2008 and June 30, 2008 are not eligible. The promotional credit is valid only for merchants with a self-managed AdWords account in the United States. The promotional credit will typically be distributed within 30 days after the end of the month in which the merchant satisfies the criteria. Merchants will be charged for advertising that exceeds the promotional credit. Merchants will need to suspend their ads if they do not wish to receive additional charges beyond the free credit amount. Subject to ad approval, valid registration, and acceptance of the Google AdWords Program standard terms and conditions. The promotional credit is non-transferable and may not be sold or bartered. Offer may be revoked at any time for any reason by Google Inc. One promotional credit per merchant. For new AdWords Program registrants, an activation fee of $5 will be applied and deducted from the promotion credit. The promotional credit will expire approximately 30 days from the date the credit is issued.
