GUESS? Selects Mercent to Expand Online Sales

Leading Global Retailer Selects Mercent Commerce System to Maximize Sales through Amazon.com and Leading Online Shopping Portals

Seattle, WA — November 2, 2004 — Mercent, the single solution for online marketplace retailing, announced today that its flagship software product, Mercent Commerce System, has been selected by GUESS? to merchandise and sell product at multiple online marketplaces.

GUESS? sought a cost-effective software solution that would increase online sales and reduce ongoing maintenance costs. “We selected Mercent for their ability to rapidly expand our online sales efforts through Amazon.com and other leading shopping portals,” said Paul Marciano, Co-Chairman and Co-Chief Executive Officer of GUESS?.

Rob Garf, Senior Analyst for AMR Research, noted that “Retailers using e-commerce are now looking beyond their own site at the millions of online shoppers that frequent marketplaces such as Amazon.com and Yahoo! Shopping, and wondering how they can expand brand and product visibility through these channels. Mercent gives retailers a robust communication and data transformation system that aggregates data from internal systems, and feeds the information to external partners. This infrastructure lets them merchandise more products, on more sites, more accurately.” (AMR Research Alert, September 28, 2004)

Mercent Opens New Sales Channels
Mercent Commerce System offers GUESS? faster and easier integration with the Merchants@Amazon.com platform and nine additional online marketplaces, as well as better control over the selling and merchandising data exchanged with these marketplaces. The solution’s relational data store stages unique product and promotional data for each online marketplace to maximize return on merchandising investment. Mercent Commerce System facilitates the automated, scheduled exchange of product, order, inventory, fulfillment, and settlement data between GUESS?'s data center and consumer marketplaces' Web services-based interfaces.
